Hello, I’m Melissa!

I am multidisciplinary illustrator and printmaker whose works revolve around vintage fashion, nature and themes of home life. Currently I am pursing print design for textiles, wallpaper and home decor. I graduated from the School of Visual Arts in 2013 with a BFA in Illustration and in 2022 from the Illustration as Visual Essay master’s program. I have been working as a freelance professional printmaker, which has given me opportunities to collaborate with many businesses and artists. I’m trained in all major printing techniques: Screen Printing, Letterpress, Etching, Lithography, and Relief Printing. I have worked alongside master printer Jennifer Mahlman at Ribuoli Digital on numerous print editions for exhibiting fine artists. I, also, currently work part-time as a Printmaking Assistant in the Fine Arts department at the School of Visual Arts.

I co-founded a design and printing studio with Brittany Emerson called Sourwood Press. We are a female run business and we designed, produced and sell a line of bandanas, stationery, and tote bags. We have also gotten to collaborate with designers and business to produce printed goods and products.

I have amassed many tactile skills over the course of my career and continue to experiment with furniture restoration, woodworking, textiles, bookmaking and my practice of printmaking.
